Doctrine of Zhuo pathogens is a novel theory adopted to treat modern disease， and supplement the etiology theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It gradually became an important guiding principle for preventing and treating modern disease. However， there is no consensus for the connotation of Zhuo pathogens. This paper will synthesize the viewpoints of ancient and modern experts to probe the connotation and source of Zhuo pathogens， the connection of Zhuo pathogens and phlegm， yin， water， dampness， blood stasis， poison and blood Zhuo. Beyond that， we will explain the pathogenic characteristics， common signs， and treatment of Zhuo pathogens， and provide theoretical basis for treating disease caused by Zhuo pathogens.
