The hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy（HIE）of adult patients usually come on after the cardiopulmonary resuscitation（CPR）， with disturbance of consciousness as the main clinical manifestations， which belongs to the category of TCM sudden death or coma and related to heart and brain. Through analyzing mechanism and effect of the different methods of acupuncture to treat the adult HIE patients， it concludes that acupuncture can stimulate the regional vessels of head and neck and improve the general blood circulation to promote brain resuscitation.
