Massive hemorrhage in gynecology of traditional Chinese medicine is categorized as the domain of “metrorrhagia and metrostaxis”, which is regarded as a phenomenon of extreme disorder of meridians. In the ancient book of Fu Qingzhu's Obstetrics and Gynecology, there were a number of descriptions on massive hemorrhage, and Fu Qingzhu had his own unique characteristics in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. If the sovereign fire and minister fire fulfill their duties or responsibilities well in charge of the body, the human body will in a state of peace and harmony, otherwise hyperactivity of ministerial fire easily induces occurrence of disease. The paper discussed the rules of syndrome differentiation and treatment along with characteristics of treatment of massive hemorrhage in Fu Qingzhu's Obstetrics and Gynecology based on the theory of ministerial fire, aiming to provide clinical reference for the treatment of massive hemorrhage.
