Abstract:Based on the "Yin-Yang" theory, Professor Jiang Yunwu posits that thyroid nodules arise from Yang deficiency leading to the congealing of "Yin" pathological products such as phlegm stagnation and blood stasis, manifesting as the state of "insufficient Yang and excessive Yin." Integrating her clinical expertise in the "Yang-Supporting Needling Technique," Professor Jiang developed the "Benefiting Yang and Eliminating Yin" acupuncture protocol for thyroid nodules. In clinical practice, she prioritizes the use of Yang-tonifying acupoints, favors the application of moxibustion techniques, and skillfully combines auricular acupuncture with precise needling manipulation. By fortifying the Yang energy of the heart, spleen, and kidney systems and eliminating substantial Yin pathogens such as phlegm congelation and blood stasis, this therapeutic strategy achieves the goals of warming Yang and replenishing Qi, activating blood circulation to resolve stasis, and dissipating phlegm to disperse nodules.
