Abstract:Peripheral facial paralysis is a common facial nerve dysfunction disease with complex causes. In response to the current issues in acupuncture treatment such as ambiguous staging, unclear location of the disease, and relatively single methods for unblocking meridians, Professor Wang Jianming innovatively proposed an integrated diagnosis and treatment system of "staging-position differentiation-collaterals unblocking". By precisely locating the levels of the disease collaterals(local and distant) to guide acupuncture clinical practice, he proposed "same treatment for the same location" and "different treatment for different locations" to adapt to the characteristics of different disease locations. We sort out the ideas and methods of "staging-position differentiation-collaterals unblocking" acupuncture treatment for peripheral facial paralysis. This therapy emphasizes the combination of acupuncture and moxibustion, effectively unblocking the meridians, harmonizing Qi and blood, nourishing the meridians and tendons, and restoring the function of facial muscles, which is of great clinical significance.
